Sodium Alginate and Magnesium Alginate

Sodium Alginate and Magnesium Alginate is an oral combination of alginate salts. Upon contact with stomach acid, it reacts to form a viscous, neutral-pH gel raft that floats on top of the stomach contents. This raft acts as a physical barrier to mechanically prevent gastric acid and pepsin from refluxing back up into the esophagus, thereby protecting the mucosal lining.
